I've asked to join the group, and hope to make it out from Charlottesville sometime to join you on a work trip. That way I can pick your brains for additional hiking ideas.Jeff Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06623587270951440914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3028206738007742119.post-62207257770999070392021-06-11T07:15:55.295-04:002021-06-11T07:15:55.295-04:00Hi Jeff, I am happy to report that a new trail clu...Hi Jeff, I am happy to report that a new trail club (the Alleghany Highlands Trail Club led by Michael Scales -- see: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ahtrailclub was out on this section of Piney Mountain recently and has cleared the section of the trail you talk about here (the 'southern' part, to the east of Jordans Run Road). At some point, I think the plan is to go from this northern most trailhead on Jordans Run Road and go up and over Warm Springs Mountain (WSM) and down to Muddy Run Road on the west side of WSM. But you are right, that trail was a mess--it took about 4 or 5 workdays to clear, using a crew of 4-7 people with heavy brushers.
